How It Works
What to expect from the PACS intake process.
From first inquiry to move-in: every step, what's asked, and what to bring.
The intake process is the most-asked-about part of any housing program. Here's exactly what to expect, in order.
Step 1: First inquiry
You either fill out the form on the apply page or call 855-425-PACS. A staff member follows up within one business day. The first call is short: a few minutes to understand your situation and figure out the next step.
Step 2: Phone or in-person interview
This is the real conversation. We talk through what you're coming from, what kind of income you have, what you're looking for, and any considerations we should know about. You bring questions. We bring answers.
Step 3: Documentation
To complete intake, we'll need:
- Valid government-issued ID.
- Proof of income: pay stubs, an SSI/SSDI award letter, or a VA benefits letter all work.
- Your name, phone, and a point of contact for your current housing situation.
If you're missing something, say so. We can usually point you to a way to get it.
Step 4: Agreement and orientation
Before move-in, you'll review and sign the program agreements. The handbook covers eligibility, expectations, fees, safety policies, the camera setup (only in common and exterior areas), and the conflict resolution process. Orientation walks through it in person.
Step 5: Move-in
Furnished unit. Fingerprint set up. WiFi password. A walk-through of the home with whoever is working that day. Welcome home.
Common questions
How long does the whole thing take? It depends on your documentation and our current availability. Often days, not weeks.
What if I don't pass the interview? The interview isn't a test. It's a fit check. If we don't think the program is the right shape for you, we'll say so directly and try to point you to something better suited.
Is there a fee to apply? No. Program fees only apply once you're accepted and ready to move in.
Ready when you are
If you've been holding off on applying because the process felt opaque, hopefully this clears it up. Start your application and we'll meet you on the other side of step one.
